I was thinking about leaving social media, but if I do the “bad actors and trolls with fake names” win. It gets easier and easier to tell when AI or a social media troll is posting wrong information or outright lies.
I still use social media to communicate with my constituents, like you. As an elected official (Jefferson County Treasurer), I think social media is still a valuable tool.
One of my rules is that I make every effort to not engage in a keyboard fight with someone who wants to impugn my motives, argue, personally attack, promote conspiracy theories, etc… I just scroll by and ask them to call me if they want to have a discussion in a thoughtful manner. Just my thoughts.
